JackyJ1593 Report 18 Mar 2007 00:29

Several accusations have been thrown about lately - the main ones being someone having an affair with the husband of a past member and someone lying about having had illnesses and surgery. In both cases proof has been asked for. But stop and ask yourselves, how many times do members post a thread saying they feel unwell, have flu, are going for tests, have had results, have started some form of treatment, have so long to live, have lost a loved one etc. etc... Is proof asked for? I have been unwell for 8 weeks and other than a few people wishing me well and asking after my health, no one has asked me to prove anything. So why is it that certain names seem to provoke the need for proof? It also seems that if you reply to a person you are taking sides and therefore can't reply to someone in the other 'gang'. I use the word gang as that is how it feels now. I know I don't fit into 'either gang' as my threads are often ignored or have few replies which is very noticeable when someone from one side or the other posts something similar and gets gets dozens of replies. I am not a newbie who has only seen recent things. I have been around from the start of GR and have seen the same pattern time and time again. Unless any of us know for fact what is true and what isn't, why take sides and support one person over another? I posted a thread a few weeks back about a 14 year old with terminal cancer. Diagnosed since Christmas. When I posted an update, I had no response what so ever. That lad needs the support and postive thoughts. I posted a thread this week 'a nice thread' and had 11 replies. 4 of those were me responding to others who had posted. Yet on the same day dozens of replies appeared on argumentative threads and threads talking about the argumentative threads. So please, before jumping on the bandwagon, consider whether attacks on individuals are justified. Thank you. Jacky :-)

Jacky, that is very well put. I have noticed this us and them culture, cliquey since I first started posting a couple of years ago, but it is so much worse now, and I am starting to feel a bit wary of some people now that I used to feel very comfortable with. To be told someone is shocked that you add a comment to a certain person's thread for example, is horrid, I am my own person and add to whatever takes my interest, or whatever I have an opinion about. I don't add for effect or to upset people. Liz p.s. have a bad shoulder at the mo and feeling quite sick with the pain, but have no Doctor's note, should I get one? lol

PP Providing you can 'proove' to your doctor that your shoulder is bad ;-) I would get a sick note although I can assure you that the sick pay it brings is hardly worth bothering with especially as the 1st 3 days don't count! Seriously though, sorry you feel like that. My daughter has had a bad shoulder this week due to vigorous dance practice and has been in a lot of pain. Ibruprofen and paracetomol helped. Jacky :-)

Joy, I left the thread for a couple of days and copied the positive thoughts for his Nan to take to him. A few days later I posted an update and had no replies so I deleted it after 24 hours. Lets just say that many many more positive thoughts will be needed to make any difference. Jacky :-)

I am sorry, Jacky, I didn't see that thread. It may be possible it was there when I was offline for several weeks. In my positive thoughts and healing thread, I have included all in need of healing. I hope you will feel better soon.
