I hope no one thinks because I've only 2 in my tree on here I've nothing to exchange. I took my tree off about 4 years ago but do swap info from my tree on tribal pages. Even though I don't keep my tree on here I'm not sure I like the idea of having to tick a box to stop folk looking at tree's, it could be easily overlooked giving access to your tree to all and sundry. It's far better for the tree owner to offer contacts to view if they wish too. At least we can still look at the registration numbers, it gives a bit of a clue as to how long someone's been here. I did have a very low number but left the site for a while. Re joined about 3 years ago so not sure what my number is now. Daphne

I hadn't noticed that, Dee. That's going to be very annoying when we do name searches. If anyone else is as peeved as I am please contact support and tell them. I'm not sure how much good it will do but it's worth a try. Gwynne

Dee the Bibliomaniac Report 31 Mar 2007 08:01

Hi Gwynne I found it confusing the other day when I went to message someone direct from a reply to a thread, only to realise you no longer know if you have had contact with that person before. Previously you would know if the person you were contacting was one and the same person as the person you had been in touch with before. (Hope I am making sense, still half asleep) ;-)) Dee

I haven't had the inclination to explore the new message system yet Gwynne, so hadn't realised that this facility had gone. Utter madness! Jeanette x

oh dear Gwynne, i didnt realise they had took this facility away, my concerns are the same as yours, and i see no advantage at all for Gr to do this whasoever.. very grim indeed..

So I sent this message this morning 'I am very annoyed that you have removed the facility to see the date of joining and number of people in a member's tree. Why was this done? I cannot believe that a survey said people wanted this facility removed. It could lead to people allowing others to see their trees in belief that the other person will return the favour - then they discover that the other person joined 2 days ago and has no data to exchange.' and another thing - one way we have of seeing if someone is likely to have just joined to cause trouble is by checking the date of joining of someone who posts contentiously for no apparent reason.
