yes come on you Spurs! I really hope Ledley King IS fit and playing - my mate had heard from 'reliable sources' that he wasn't going to play again because of his injuries. Just waiting now for the team to be announced. well - he's in the team - hope he's ok ! |

From the Spurs website: Martin Jol faces a defensive headache ahead of Thursday night's UEFA Cup quarter-final, second leg against Sevilla at the Lane. Long-term absentees Benoit Assou-Ekotto (knee) and Anthony Gardner (hairline fracture, fibula) have been joined by fellow defenders Lee Young-Pyo (knee) on the sidelines while Paul Stalteri (hip) is another doubt. To add to the problems, Ricardo Rocha is ineligible for the UEFA Cup while in midfield, Tom Huddlestone (knee) is also out. However, Martin has been given a huge boost by being able to name skipper Ledley King in the 20-man squad. Ledley has been out since the win against Aston Villa on Boxing Day with ongoing foot problems. Danny Murphy also returns after a couple of months out with Achilles trouble with a 70-minute stint for the reserves under his belt on Tuesday. 'Ledley says he's ready, so he's in the squad,' reported Martin on Wednesday. 'He said he wanted to play against Chelsea two weeks ago but we said 'no' and that has worked out better because he's had good training sessions and now he feels he's ready.' Martin gave us an update on all the injuries. 'We hope to have Benoit back in two weeks and Anthony is progressing well. Tom is running again and he could be back in two weeks as well. 'Lee Young-Pyo is out for Thursday with a knee ligament injury and we will seek a second opinion on his injury on Friday. Danny Murphy played for 70 minutes for the reserves and Paul Stalteri has a problem with his hip, we will seek a second opinion on his injury on Friday. Danny Murphy played for 70 minutes for the reserves and Paul Stalteri has a problem with his hip, we will make an assessment on him tomorrow.' |
