Ooooooh Joyous...what you done? The last barbie I had I did the chicken in the oven,,,,was a red hot day and I seemed to spend most of my time in the kitchen sweltering :o( The best idea on here is the bring your own disposable barbies and meat...you do the salads. Everyone had to dress up as a pop star at mine...we had 3 Elvis's, a Madonna, a Dolly Parton, Marilyn Manson, Shirley Bassey, John Lennon, Avril Laverne, Ozzie and Kelly Osborne, I was Missy Elliot (but some bright spark said I looked more like Nadia from big brother!) Have Fun..and Dont work too hard! K xx Oh nearly forgot...had a couple of grannys dressed as worzels ..pmsl |

My daughter always does a summer birthday's BBQ (more than one in the same week have birthdays). She makes a huge Lasagne, french bread, salad and a rice dish and these ALWAYS go before the BBQ food which leaves her more time to enjoy the fun!! Oh, and instead of jacket potatoes a big bowl of hot new potates. Linda x |

A good healthy way to fill youngsters up so they don't get too drunk, is to do lots of pasta, preferably wholemeal as more filling, and you could use the tricolour one too, drain and add fried chopped onions and peppers, (buy these from Iceland)cooked frozen peas and sweetcorn too if you like and have time. You can do those earlier on and leave out covered with clingfilm. Have a great time. Liz |

I would think you need help with the food, 56 is a lot to cater for. I always pre cook chicken in the microwave before OH barbecues it, for wings about 1 minute per wing, for thighs 2 mins per thigh. Buy a very large pot of shop coleslaw, chop some apple into it, tip into a dish and call it home made. Or suggest he makes it! Ann glos |
