Maz (the Royal One) in the East End 9256 Report 16 May 2007 21:20

Hi Pat - just came on and saw this - I'm soooo pleased for you :-))) Looking forward to hearing what it says - maybe seeing a copy of the picture too??!! You thoroughly deserve this bit of good luck - why not contact your 'family' and tell them you've got it - if they ask for a copy say 'of course' then don't send it heh heh heh Maz. XX

So pleased for you, its great when something like that comes up isn't it. Is there any chance that the library would sell it to you, sometimes they do. I managed to order a book from the library [sent down from a different library] that my grandfather wrote, it was a shame I couldn't keep it, but when my aunt died I came across the signed copy she had, it's old and tatty but is a real treasure to me. Only wish the book was about his life, but it's about submarine cables but I have got the original transcript of one of his adventures that was printed in the newspaper and the newspaper cutting that was very much edited.

That's fantastic news! How lovely to have something in print. The only thing I'v got in print from my lot is BMD certs and census forms! (And it's nice to see positive threads on this board, instead of insane rows and witterings!) Bx

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 17 May 2007 02:32

That's great news and has reminded me that my cousin, who I am visiting in early June, told me the other day that she has some books about Buckingham and one of them has a picture of my grandmother in. Maybe she will give it to me - she is not that interested in the family history. Tonight on the phone she mentioned that someone from my family's home village, Gawcott, had come round to see her, and she is 70 so might remember some of the family, but when I said so to my coz she said, Oh I never bother to talk to her about that, I am not really bothered! Think I will have to visit the lady myself. Hope you get your copy soon. Liz
