we have always had photos on our passes, even for the half fare ones. But we have to have new ones taken for the new passes coming into effect March 2008. Ann Glos |

Clive, I see Jan was rflhao more than a minute before I replied to her 'horse' comment so obviously not laughing at my reply, must be a person who laughs at her own jokes lol Whenever the offer comes into force will be great so I can flit round the countryside and visit all my friends and relatives for free! Hmm, maybe becoming a pensioner won't be so bad after all! Liz who is well used to being at the end of the queue, having been a W all my life! And no, Clive, my surname isn't really Poinsettia lol |

We have the free off peak bus pass but we only have one bus an hour. To get anywhere where we could catch another bus to take you to cilvilisation we must first have a journey of one hour, then you have to hope that the bus you want to take you further conincides with the arrival of the first bus. It would be great if it also included the train as we have a line in our village that goes directly into Liverpool Street, London. Kathlyn |

I had this note in with my bus pass last month. Please note that the expiry date on the new farepass that has been issued to you is not for a complete year, this is due to changes in concessionary travel from the 1st April 2008, from this date the government are extending the pass to free travel on any local bus in England, consequently a new card will be sent to you in the new year to cover this, we will of course be publishing more detailed information nearer the time. I come under the New Forest District Council though so other councils may do things diferently. Jenny |

*jan can't respond.she's too busy rolling on the floor laughing* well that's one way of cleaning the floor 1. Invite Jan to visit 2. Complain of unfair treatment (say your name begins with W and call yourself P... P...) 3. Watch Jan puff of blue smoke as I disappear C |

Have a look at the DFT (Dept for Transport) site. This answers some questions about who is eligible and when the pass will be available. http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/regional/buses/concessionary/answerstofaq/answerstocbtfaq?page=1 Sue xx |

Well that will be great but a bit unfair, still what's new - having a W surname has always put me at the end of the queue. I may well be using National Express airport coaches between my 60th birthday on July 25 and the last week in Sept but due to my name I won't be able to get my pass in time. That isn't fair! Will have to look into this and see if I can do anything. thanks for info. Liz Oh just read it again and won't apply till 2008 but will be useful for travelling then so well pleased. |

In London Rail travel is free within the boundary, with a senior rail discount pass (£20) it makes a big saving on fares James |

In London we have always had a photo ID plus Freedom Pass. so it is still March 2008 for free country wide travel by bus, but do not know about Rail travel. James |

I think it changed locally about then. Previously pensioners had to purchase a pass entitling them to travel for half fare at off-peak times. Now it is free and from July 1st, the passes have photo I.D. Gwyn |

Wonder how they got away with that then, I thought it was something that came out of the last gen election and local councils were given grants towards it. Ann Glos |
