I looked up Islington - terraced houses have gone up over 1000% in 30 years.

Frightening.

Not only London.

I know someone who lives in a pleasant, but not grand terraced house in Winchester.

A similar house just a few doors away sold for £999,500 last year.

No way is this going to affect me, but listening to LBC this morning made me think.

An elderly cash poor property rich ( lived in London for many years) has seen property prices shoot up. There is no spare cash from their pensions to pay the tax if it comes in. Theadvice she had been given by her MP was not to pay and it would be charged to the estate.

But with inheritance rocketing I could see her not be able to pay for funerals.

I’m thinking of just giving all accounts details to the government so they can empty and take all my savings now.
