Von, I still go to see my old school friend - we met at the beginning of the term after Easter (three intakes in those days) in 1949 but, sadly, she is now in a home and has Alzheimer’s.

I do see her more often than I did ten years ago but that is because I am one of the few people she recognises immediately, for which I am grateful as there are only four of us left from the group of schoolmates who regularly met for lunch. When I went last week, she told me that she would recognise me anywhere and I admit I feel the same about her. I don’t think she has changed at all apart from her hair which has gone from fair to grey.

She was a lovely natured girl then and I still think she is a lovely natured girl.

Sounds like you had a good natter Joy. I was due to meet my friend of 69 years on

Monday but we’ve had to cancel because of the rail strikes :-| :-|

I’ve been in the garden. It was lovely and warm I had to shed some layers ;-) ;-)

Off to get some food now :-D

Just got back. Had a good natter and reminisced. We have been pals for 63 years having met at work when I was 18 and clicked straightaway. When left to our own devices we didn’t half have some fun …. and mischief.

Sun is out and, contrary to me thinking I was going to have a quiet afternoon in, Bestie called so I am off to Lanchester for the afternoon.

Kath, it sounds as though you had a great day. If your grandson is doing the GNR, I wish him well ..... and unblistered feet! (Compeed is what K used to carry!)

It's years since I've been to Thirsk - All Creatures always springs to mind and many moons ago, as typical tourists, K and I visited James Herriot's house and surgery there.

Dull here but the temperature isn't too bad :-)

Had a lovely day with married son yesterday. We stopped off in Thirsk for lunch on the way down (married son was working till about 2pm so we didn't want to get there too early). Daughter-in-law was upstairs working till 5pm but she'd prepared a Sunday lunch (on Friday :-S) so we just spent the afternoon chatting to grandson about his preparations for The Great North Run tomorrow and catching up on how his recent holiday had been.

Had a late tea and didn't leave until 9pm and home by 10.30pm.

Today I'm doing very little :-D
