We were in a rented house at the time and I was worried one of the children would walk tar onto the carpets, but fortunately that didn't happen.

There was an article on the London news tonight, about fires, b-b-ques, fag-ends causing wild fires. The officer said we had to be careful at Hampstead Heath. I was screaming at the tv, that Is Parliament Hill, not Hampstead Heath. But I suppose that sounds posher. :-|

The Wennington wildfire was a wildfire that took place in Wennington, east London, on 19 July 2022 during the 2022 United Kingdom heatwave. No-one was killed, but the wildfire destroyed about 18–19 houses, including all the possessions of many residents
