What a wonderful concert at Horse Guards Parade tonight. Very emotional and wonderful to see all the happy smiling faces of young and old enjoying the performances.

Oh how my Mum and Dad would have enjoyed tonight

I agree Ann very enjoyable :-). My only small gripe would be that The White Cliffs of Dover should have been sung by the woman who sung We'll Meet Again. As both songs are synonymous with Vera Lynn it didn't seem right that The White Cliffs was sung by a man even though he had a lovely voice. :-). That said it was very enjoyable :-)

I recorded and watched the VE performance on Horse Guards parade. I think they said there were 10000 people seated there. The atmosphere looked to be great. I am not sure what I think of the actual show. Loved the dancing by the Strictly professionals and the military bands, especially the royal Marine drummers. Can't imagine what made them have The Darkness, a very loud rock band as it seemed totally out of place and I actually didn't recognise the names of some of the soloists. I think most of the usual acts would be already performing in their own shows elsewhere. Pity they could not have got Michael Ball or alfie Boe. I suspect they will either have not been paid or a very low fee. A couple of the singers had good voices and it was good to hear the old songs. The young female singing We'll' meet again is apparently almost 9 months pregnant. I think it must have over ran its time though as my recording stopped just short of the end.
I also thought it strange that it was a male who sang 'White Cliffs of Dover' But he did have a lovely voice. Maybe it would have been too much for her, in her condition, to power out two songs.

all in all though it was a great effort and must have taken a lot to put together. and thank goodness it didn't rain. Not that keen on Zoe Ball but she did a good job. and goodness those heels, I bet her feet ached.

One thing that I found amazing was the number of Veterans there and also there on Monday, who were 100 or over and still very alert and active. And it can't have been warm there, although in a shelter with the royal Family it was a cold night.
I thought the King gave a very good speech as well.

I agree Ann regarding Zoe Ball…not a fan either….now Michael Ball would have been a better choice :-D ;-)

See what you mean Belle…I was thinking original footage of Vera would have been lovely …especially for the Veterans <3
