What did our parents do to kill boredom before the internet? I asked my 26 brothers and sisters & they didn't know either

My Dad often worked 6 days a week and on sunday they got up late, read the papers and went to church in the evening. when he had time off he loved his garden and grew all his own veg. He had a greenhouse when he retired (at 70) and grew tomatoes which he loved to give to people.
My Mum used to read a bit and do knitting.
If you think about it my parents were before the time of having washing machine etc and housework took longer. they didn't have a lot of spare time to fill up.
But it is nor just my parents who were pre internet. we were as well. and we also liked out gardening, we went for rides out in the car. I suppose our two children took up our time. My OH used to buy the old style broken TVs and fix and re-sell them. I don't remember being bored.

Guilty of answering literally. as you can see we only had two children so did our parents.

We didn’t have a car - so a lot of time was taken up with walking there and back.
