No let up in the wind for a 2nd night, it was as bad as friday. & today is no better, still blowing hard, the constant noise is really unpleasant.
At around 4-00 AM there was a lull & I thought things had eased but no, 1/2 an hour of relevant peace & it was back as bad as ever ! Lookimg out of the windows today everything in the garden is getting a right bashing, the plants & tree branches are sideways on & many leaves are blowing past, probably heaping up against the hedges & walls waiting for me to clear them up !!.
I'm hoping the wind dies down at some point today, I can't face another noisy night,I need sleep, I'm feeling like a zomie.
Argyllgran, it's not nice being without power & phones, I still have the old style landline phone which stays on during storms & I too get calls from SSEN but I don't find them helpful !!
I hope all is well with others looking in.
Joan

Our power was restored at midnight, thank goodness, having been off since 1830 on Friday.
Many places still have no power.
Lots of trees down around this district, but thankfully no damage to my house or garden.
Our mobile signal was also knocked out by the storm, but is back this morning. People who are on the new digital phone system had no way to contact anyone for 30 hours in this area - such a stupid system. I'm lucky in that I still have a sensible old-fashioned landline, so I was receiving updates from SSEN, but of course still couldn't contact the two of my adult children who have the "new" phone lines, as they also had lost mobile signal.
The third lives in a different part of Scotland, and still had power and a mobile signal, so I was able to phone him.
Thank goodness the weather wasn't too cold, as my house is all-electric, and therefore I had no heat. I do have solar-powered torches and lamps, as well as candles, and also a small gas camping stove.
I'm so relieved to be back to normal this morning - though haven't yet investigated the condition of the freezer contents!
It's good to know that you are OK, Joan and Florence - at least I hope you still are, since you posted. I hope the weather hasn't affected your travel plans for tomorrow, Florence. Have a lovely time!

Hi to you all. Well what a horible night, the wind was terible & the noise !! far worse than I was led to believe from the forecast, though I knew it was going to be windy they seemed to be saying it was mainly for those in the FAR north, Shetland & the like !!
It was really bad here, & I spent the night very scared & wondering what might be going on outside, I couldn't believe that the power stayed on for which I was thankful for, I couldn't have coped.if that had gone off,.
It's a "little" better today ! bur still very windy, I can see rfom the window that the Glider seat has blown over even though it's fastened down ! Hoping there are no roof slates on the ground.
Off to put a bit of dinner together, steak pie & veg today, hope everyone else is ok.
Joan.

Aginrocker as I say to all on here, if you ever find yourself in my area, please feel free to knock at my door where a coffee and maybe some lemon drizzle or Victoria sponge would be waiting for you, all very welcome.
Hope you are ok Joan in your corner of the north?
I know many are without power throughout the highlands and north Scotland so hope if you are affected hope you are safe and warm indoors.
Im supposed to be going out for dinner tonight for a belated birthday meal for daughter but its wild at the moment so maybe decided after lunch if we go out!
Better head to shower whilst we do have power otherwise with wet hair I will look like a shaggy sheep dog :-D :-D :-D

I thought I'd pop in and say Hello to everybody. I should have come a few days ago, maybe Florence would have given me some virtual lemon drizzle!
Stay safe in the storm this weekend everybody.

I hope that you will stay safe Florence. Last night my mobile phone started making a loud siren noise. It was an alert like the practice one we all got recently, only this was a real one. It was warning about immin flooding in the area. It was in Greek, but also English. During the night the rain was torrential. At 3.30am, I looked out of the patio door which we had partly open ad the water was coming down like a sheet. We are sheltered because the balcony has a solid roof, so the water doesn’t come in the room. The rain has finally stopped this morning, but it is only about fifteen degrees, so not quite what we wanted. At least we will be able to go and sit outside

Morning all
Just to say we are expecting very severe wind speeds up to 100 mph later on. So anyone else in the storms path stay safe and indoors.
We may lose power but are well prepared up here.
Take care all

Apparently they haven’t had a drop of rain here for six months, but the weather is making up for that now. The rain is just continuous, so we are stuck in the room. Yesterday, it eased off at lunchtime, just enough for us to walk to the seafood restaurant on the beach for lunch, but today it is impossible go outside, so we had lunch in the lobby bar. Even with the rain it is still about eighteen degrees, but to the Greeks, that seems to be the equivalent the middle of our winter. We always have the air conditioning on at night, because if you don’t the room gets really stuffy. Last night we woke up in the middle of the night because the room was like a sauna. We couldn’t get the cold air to come on, so we had to switch it off and open the patio door . Luckily because the rain was torrential there were no mossies to bite me. This morning we discovered that they have turned the cooling option off and put the central heating on. As we don’t want the hot air blasting out ,we have turned it off, but have to leave the patio door open or it gets muggy. It is supposed to stop raining tomorrow morning, so fingers crossed that it does

How annoying, I would have thought drop ins filled gaps in the list, not those with appointments waiting.
OH gets both on Saturday. He wasn’t sure about the Covid but when seeing the dr this week he was told to get it as it is definately out and about in our village.
I am also too young :-D :-D, so he asked his much the pharmacy was charging. £98, so have to think harder than I have been.

Well yesterday was Jab day for us, I had the flu jab but OH being older got both flu and covid. We had them done at the local pharmacy and we had booked appts.as told but when we got there it was also a walk in so we ended up waiting well over our appt time. Popped into the Drs surgery as well to change OHs phone appt as he was given an all day appt. which he can't do as he has another appt. that day. We managed to change it till after 2pm . Don't see why they can't give am or pm appts instead of expecting people to wait all day for a call.
Ann I hope the weather is ok for your holiday, hopefully the forecast storm won't be your way. Enjoy yourself.
Florence enjoy Iceland.
Hope everyone is keeping well .

Morning all looking in.
Oh dear linda, sorry for you having wet weather but at least you dont have to cook & clean!
Ann take care going down to Devon. Im not sure if that part of the uk will be hit with the storm but now on Fri/sat am its showing 77mph!! Although we are used to that, anything over 70 is a worry but all the flower pots have been moved now into shelter and the tunnel and bins are secured with rope.
Daughter is worrying she may not get back but its after 7pm when the storm hits and shes is arriving mid afternoon so she will be ok unless something changes very quickly.
Im busy now ironing and then hanging clothes ready to pack. My other half headed off to town for a haircut and post a parcel for me.
So better crack on. The sun is shining but very windy.
Take care all

Good morning Linda and everyone. It is always frustrating when you go away hoping for good dry weather and get rain. Unfortunately the weather ecerywhere is changing, maybe where you are, like here it is a couple of weeks earlier to get twardso winter weather. Not sure if where you are is affected by the latest atlantic appraoching storm which appears to be far reaching.
I hope you have a Kindle or similar and plenty of reading material. At least you are re-charging your batteries. I hope that the weather improves for you. I go away with my daughter and son in law on Friday but we are only going down to Devon and already know the weather is not going to be that good.
Florence enjoy Iceland. I have never been but daughter has and liked it.

I hope you have a nice time in Iceland Florence, it is somewhere I have never been. The weather here hasn’t been very good for a couple of of days, but we have still gone out and sat by the pool to read, we’d also visited the local town even though the taxi fare was fifteen euros each way. Today it is raining very hard, so we are just stuck in the hotel ,not what we wanted, but there is nothing we can do about it. We normally go on holiday earlier in September, but we had to wait for our son to move before we could arrange anything. It is still a nice change from being at home.

Afternoon all.
Windy, dull & overcast here by dry for now.... The weekend is looking very stormy in this part of the uk so have been outside tidying up pots and making sure all secure.
I have finally found out that my chairs I returned to Argos have been received back on the 17 Sep but.....it will be 30 days before i get my refund grrr!! At least its in progress but why oh why does it take that long?
Linda hope you & hubby are still having a lovely time and good weather?
Looking forward to next Monday when we are off to Iceland. Apparently the Northern lights are everywhere there at the moment so hoping we will catch some of them on camera.
My bedroom floor has numerous bags all containing xmas pressies waiting to be wrapped but that will happen after we get back.
Looking forward to seeing my daughter as she has been elsewhere for the last 6 weeks so looking forward to hearing all her adventures etc.
Hope everyone looking in today is well and keeping safe.

It isn’t lashing down here :-D :-D I have been on the beach all day again. My tan is coming along very nicely, what a pity it will all be covered up as soon as we get home to wintery conditions As usual I have some nasty bites and OH has non at all :-|. I have just spayed myself in evil spray before we go out for dinner. I will smell strange, but I hope won’t get any more bites. We have managed to find a channel on the TV which is showing the ladies rugby final. Pity it is in German as I don’t speak a word of that , but at least we can watch it for a while before we need to go for dinner

Afternoon all from a very lovely sunny village but.....very very windy! At least its dry.
This week has flown by as something on everyday. Tesco came earlier and then at 3pm, we have the vets in town. Thankfully tomorrow a day at home to catch up although have just stripped beds and done ironing so a busy day so far.
Linda, hope you continue to enjoy your break with OH . I did put on weight when we went to jersey but I have now lost 7 lbs....just in time for going to Iceland on the 6th Oct lol. Then another diet before xmas!
Joan, you are on the go and busy busy. Im sure your meds will get delivered so dont fret too much. The guy has been once so no reason for him not to come again.
I started crocheting 2 pumpkins complete with a black pompom. Nearly finished and the stuffing has arrived now so hopefully carry on tonight whilst watching the tv.
Daughter is back next Friday so my next job is to remove all the xmas presents that are sitting on her duvet!! Im fairly organised as per just a few more things to buy.
Ginnie, my mum hardly spent her pension etc and never went anywhere. Always scrimping and saving when she didnt need to. When we cleared her flat apart from loads of old trinkets and things from holidays many years ago, she really didnt have very much to show for her life, yet she could have had decent furniture etc but she always went to the charity shops!! Her bank account told a different story!
Well better get ready for going off to the vets with poochie which hopefully will be the last visit as her eye had recovered now, thank goodness.
