Brought back memories for me too. I remember all of those songs from school, and yes, I'm sure we sang along to the radio.

It's an oldie, Rollo. I believe it was a NE England song. It certainly brought bsck memories.

You brought back memories of the fifties too, Tess.

Once a week (Thursday mornings if my memory serves me right) our class got together to join in the singing with a BBC radio music programme for schools. I expect it happened in most schools then.

The Skye Boat Song
D'ye ken John Peel
Scarborough Fair
Molly Malone

and more if I donned my thinking cap.

I always enjoyed joining in but I am sure that my voice must have put some of my classmates off - and it hasn't got any better according to my family. :-D

I like this version RTR.

We used to sing it at school in the early 1960's.
But I am sure that out Brummie/Irish accents, as well as our untrained voices sounded nothing like this/

We had never heard what it should sound like either.

We always did "singing" in our music lessons.

No musical instruments on offer.

However, it was fun.

It is difficult to find this old song sung properly.
