	My OH in the RAF for almost 25 years didn't either he had 2 pair of boots and 2 pair shoes. He didn't do very many war games either as he was an electronics technician. :-D Army and RAF are very different

	My Mum and Dad were both in the RAF. Dad in the War and Mum from 1947 until she was demobbed to marry my Dad :-D

	Bet they didn't have segs and studs either Jem. My shoes were size 21/2, court shoes size 3.

	Been years since military footwear had segs and studs. The boots lasted forever, just change the studs as necessary. But they've had a rubber tread for years.

	I don't know much about my father in general really, let alone his war time experience. My mother said he drove supplies through the Sahara Desert. He was a mechanic however, so whether it was something to do with that. Someone since told me that the RAF were not in the Sahara Desert in WWII so perhaps she got the wrong desert! :-D

	No Fly and people could walk past without being tripped up. It also took very little time to bull my shoes. :-D :-D

	I recall my Father once saying he wanted to join the Air Force but failed the medical as he couldn't distinguish red and green. He might have been pulling my leg 21/2 is a small size Pat

	Your father was very likely part of the Desert Air Force. The RAF were in North Africa supporting Montgomery and doing reconnaissance.

	Yes, I think you couldn't join the RAF if you suffered from Colour-Blindness
