The only truly secure amd signed for Parcel and Letter service with Royal Mail is - Priority Services. Any items sent via this service can be tracked from point of posting to point of delivery.

Recorded Delivery is only tracked from the final part of the whole service from the Delivery Office to the door where it is signed for.

Royal Mail will not notify anyone in any other way other than via the P739 (You Were Out card!). They do not know everyones email addresses!!!!

Any 'company' who tries to get you to contact them via an email because you were not in, I would suggest were trying to scam you into giving either cash at the door or your bank details via an online form.

:-D Merlin.

On a serious note though with normal parcel post there are no tracking numbers. So if waiting for a package to be delivered and someone received an Email such as these, it might be opened in all good faith. :-(

Thanks Joeva, good to be aware as OH gets quite a few packets sent from Ebay and often has a red card. Told him to be aware of e mails.
