It's happened to lots of us, see other threads, especially since IE11 installed itself.. What has worked for many of us is - Click Tools, click Compatability and add Genes Reunited to the list.

'If your security settings are too high this may prevent the tree opening, have you tried reducing the level to medium?

You also do need to allow pop-ups as the tree opens in a new window. Please select 'Tools' from the toolbar at the top of your computer screen and click on pop-up blocker. If it says "allow pop-up blocker" click on this.

You also need the latest version of Macromedia flash. This can be dowloaded from here:http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

If you still have problems viewing the tree then we do suggest you try lowering the settings on your anti-virus/internet security.

* We also suggest you try pressing control and F5 simultaneously. This will clear any cached pages your PC has stored. Hopefully this will then work for you.

The Genes Reunited website has a compatibility view problem with Internet Explorer 11.

The fix is

Click the Tools icon (or Alt + X) - the cog shaped one top right of your screen

Click Compatibility View settings in the drop down list

Add the Genes Reunited website - genesreunited.co.uk

GenesRU doesn't have a problem with IE11.

Microsoft have a problem with being by far the worse modern browser at complying with standards. Given that there are alternatives I wonder sometimes at the bulldog tenacity with which people keep on using IE. Reminds me of people who hand cranked their cars in the late 1950s rather than getting a model with an electric starter.

Given IE11 tiny market share why should any web site care ?
