To obtain information on Schools and orphanages for the 1920s.
I think it has to be done there so, and as usual it will be complicated me thinks.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Very much doubt it

Most school/orphanage records if they survive will be held at local archives

Have you tried just googling the name & date of the places you are looking for

ie Anytown School 1920

:-)

I did try the archives about 3 or 4 years ago and they didn't have them at the time, will look up to see if there is a local history society I can join.
Thank you.

You do not necessarily need to join your local one (unless it is in the area where your family have lived for donkeys years.

I live in London but have ancestors from Bristol & Liverpool and for a few years I joined their Local History Societies.

I would add the the Bath & Avon Family History Society must be one of the best in the country. Their website is great and the magazine was fantastic.

I have found that many websites for Family History Societies across the country are not that user friendly or only have some very basic info which is not very helpful.

If it's a current school you could contact them to ask where old records are lodged.
I did this for a village school in Wales and they still held the old log books themselves and kindly looked up the people of interest.

If contacting a school, steer clear of busy times like begiining or end of term and you might get a favourable reply.
