I didn't know those terrible fireworks were called aerial bombs.Christmas 2004, when my aunt & herJack Russell were living with me, the 31st december was a complete nightmare. It is against the law over here (Holland) to let off fireworks before 10 am on 31st december& not after 2 am on jan.1st.Not many pople stick to this though, in the weeks leading up old/new year, there are conitinual explosions. On 31st dec.2004, aunt's dog was completely panic-stricken, barked and ran around like a mad thiing all day and up to when the noise stopped in the early hours.Gave him special tablets ( for animals) to calm him, they didn't help at all.He was wild-eyed and sweating all over...nasty to see.Didn't think that dogs could sweat. These bombs are very popular over here, can't see the fun in them. You would swear it was the beginning of WW3 when all hell breaks loose for real at midnight...can't understand where people get the money from when there is a recession on.My moggie is going to come up with me, his litter tray etc. will go in the bathroom,Uzzi, hope you poor little Minx gets over his fright soon.

Poor you, Uzzi, and poor Mini & Minx.
I can see no joy in setting off loud bangs either.
Why are bathrooms areas of 'safety' for animals?
I haven't managed to put the side on the bath properly for years - because Betty (cat) goes under the bath when she's stressed. There's a nasty cold concrete floor, and a couple of boxes of old taps under there!!

I know Uzzi - lack of sleep is the worse thing when you need to cope <3

Wend it isn´t a chill out pill I need but a total sleep pill as I am averaging less than 4,5 hrs sleep a night. Spending the day with Minx means Mini shouts for attention each night.

Ann I can understand fireworks but not the joy of setting an aerial bomb off. They are LOUD and do nothing and I really want to find who is setting them off and putting one where the sun doesn't shine

Yesterday some person/people decided at 8.10am to set off several aerial bombs, they were very close by and very loud. By 11.30am I had to carry Minx to the vets as she was a quivering wreck. She couldn´t even walk because she was so cowed.
Now although loud noises does not seem to set her epilepsy off, I don´t know what such a major reaction will do to her.
The vet gave her a chill out pill and gave us another one just incase. !!!
Gawd it scared the eck out of me because at 4pm I went to check on her in the bathroom cupboard and found her flaked and cold. Yes I feared the worse.
She woke up, sort of at 6pm moved from cupboard, to settee, to bed.
NO way will she ever have a whole tablet again as she walked for 2 hrs today and other than that has done nothing but sleep.
Then tonight at 4,30pm BANG well there was no chance of getting her out at 6pm and even now she hasn´t eaten because she is too scared to get out of the cupboard,

The aerial bombs seem to have stopped for the night but tomorrow and Sunday are fiesta days which makes it a long weekend.

Does anybody know where I can buy earplugs for dogs :-D

To make it worse Mini is feeling neglected and who can blame her and she is being demanding for time ..lol she is on my knee at the moment.

Just ranting so no replies needed
