costing us money?

I ask as yesterday OH was in Tesco - I wanted a large leg of lamb and said he may as well get the Christmas booze. A litre of Grouse Whisky and a litre of Bicardi Rum both cost £17.00 each.

Went on Tesco website last night was looking for something and came across the info that as from today these items would have cost £15. Well it happens, however I for some reason or other checked the price of the whisky it was £21 - then checked the rum again it was £21.

So the same two items were in store and on line on the same day at different prices. No promotion involved.

After been pushed from pillar to post by Tesco I am assured that it is not normal to have different prices unless there is a promotion. Mind you for some reason or other it took time for them to realise what I was complaining about!!! They kept mixing up the facts.

Just had a call back thanking me for the info - they have checked the website and will be altering it to come in line with store when promotion finishes on the 10th.

Does make me wary now about all items.

I don't know about on-line, but I do know that different branches of a Supermarket have different prices depending on location.

I live in an area that is regarded as fairly affluent (in comparison with other surrounding areas) but I used to work in a town with large numbers of unemployed. I always did my shopping in my lunch break and saved a lot of money by doing so. A few pence off every item makes a big difference over the weeks!!

Whichever way you look at it, on-line currently costs them money, especially the inefficient way the likes of Tesco do it, employing staff to push trolleys up and down the aisles to pick what you have ordered. Then there is delivery costs on top. All has to be paid for somehow.

Apart from national promotions, prices will vary from shop to shop and web. We have two Sainsburys in our town and both have different prices for the same things.
