I absolutely agree with the no ornaments request.

As a gift I would always rather have something I can use up so there is no clutter indoors.

When I did the village paper round (in my thirties) I would get pensions and bits of shopping if anybody needed them. They would buy me a little present sometimes and it would always be chocolate. Eventually, I told everybody to bear in mind the three Ts if they did choose to buy me something, which was really not necessary anyway. What I really needed was tights, toothpaste and Tampax.

Likewise at Christmas, chocolates. The first box was lovely, the second alright. Boxes eight and nine were just too much. One lady brightly told me she was just off to buy my present on the second Christmas and I explained the situation. She let me have the money instead. I was very grateful!
