Today the government has announced their latest infrastructure plan, their 4th infrastructure plan since they came to power, however of the £375 billion announced very little of it is new money from the government - the bulk of the £375 billion being announced is money already promised in their previous 3 plans.

The only new money announced is £25 billion from major insurers, that begs the question, will this money materialise from the insurers - because they had previously said, in respect of earlier infrastructure plans, to invest £20 billion and to date they have only invested £1 billion.

As one media commentator said, it is government by "Post It Notes" they come up with an idea, scribble it on a Post It Note, stick the Post It Note on their "To Do Board" then come up with another idea, scribble that on a Post It Note and stick that on their To Do Board, remove the earlier Post It Note, and throw it in the bin.

Personally this old cynic thinks this just more smoke and mirrors and I also think that they use the same Post It Note system for most of their policies ;-)

Of the ones that happen, which will be few, all will overrun and will be at least twice over budget - which means they will be cut back or scrapped by successive governments while delivering less than ten percent of the anticipated social and economic benefits - or is it just me

Announcements by Goverments of Whatever Party,are just that,whether they Implement it is another Mystery,as in Civil Service Jargon "All In Due Course" meaning never.

OldYorkshireBloke - I agree and would add that the ten percent of the anticipated social and economic benefits will do nothing to alleviate the cost of living for the vast majority of ordinary working people.

Merlin - Unfortunately these days politicians of all persuasion talk the talk but fail to , walk the walk. The smug way they talk down to us makes me cringe, non more so than Danny Alexander the Chief Secretary to the Treasury.

Thats true,more so with the young whippersnapers who think the electorate have no brains,whereas if fact we have more nous than they do,trouble is people still vote them into power, :-(
