The reason my sons op was cancelled so many times, was because a nearby hospitals A&E unit had been downgraded a few weeks ago. It was front page news in our local paper, all routine ops were cancelled as they had no beds. The staff must be under tremendous stress, as my son and many others were, and will continue to so as the n.h.s is being dismantled. Son is so happy to be home. He feels a bit better each day.

Well, you know why your son got his op - it was because all the GR force were acting on the hospital lol No one is immune from the GR thought force!

Hope he recovers well and enjoyed his bacon barm and hope you can relax a bit more now and enjoy the odd glass of wine too

Thanks for all your best wishes. I was glad to bring him home today, so wont have to pay £3 to park and £15 to watch the tele for 2 days. My stress level is lower so I will have a glass of wine.... :-D :-D

Thanks everyone for your comments so kind of you all. Have been so stressed out with it all. Paul had his op today all went well. When I spoke to him on the phone, asked what he wanted food wise.... A bacon barm with brown sauce. When he's home I will let him read all your nice comments. <3 <3 <3

That is awful, cancelling once or even twice may be acceptable but it seems as if he is slipping to the bottom of the list each time. And it is not even really into winter yet, however will they cope then. Hope he gets his op soon.

That's a shame and a poor state of affairs when he has to have his op postponed so often. I hope he gets it done very soon and will recover well. That last thing he and you need in winter especially when it's harder to get around too.

Jean, I do hope your son get his surgery over with very soon. It seems to be the same in most hospitals these days. God forbid there would ever be a need for lots of beds due to some serious accident which involved lots of casualties there would be nowhere to put them.

not been on here for a while. son had an accident at work last Thursday. admitted as he has a ruptured tendon in his knee and needed an op. put on the theatre list for Friday, it was cancelled as it was on the Saturday. brought him home in a full plaster cast on saturday as there was no chance for sunday, as they needed beds he was allowed home as I could care for him. well no beds on Monday. Tuesday we have a bed, so take him back but op is cancelled yet again.i hope he will get on the list for his op tomorrow. has never been out of work, he is lucky I know. can I get a sick note for him...that is another story. winter has not yet kicked in so god help us all. your comments are welcome. i must have had 6 phone calls each day from 7.30am saying he hasn't been forgotten. keep your fingers x for him. and thanks for reading <3 <3 <3
