What will you do with the dogs when you come to Sheffield next year?

Thanks Shirley, a lot of my friends don´t see why I keep my dogs passport jabs up, especially as I don´t intend to return to the UK but I did for many years incase I had to back for Mother, now I will keep them up because who knows, but why shouldn´t they have a passport because if I win the lottery they are going to have to travel. :-D :-D

Our old girl Mirabelle is now 16+ she is a British Shorthair cat we got aged about 7 months from our local Cats Protection Cattery. She had obviously been bred cos she had a droopy tum!! we did ask why a breeder would get rid of a pedigree but the answer was very non committal.

She wasnt used to a house environment so was probably caged up from birth at the breeders. She does have an overgrowth on some of her joints which was probably why she was discarded!!.

Well their loss and her gain cos she has had a loving home with us. She is now getting a bit slow and doesnt like being combed so she is looking a bit moth eaten . I dont stress her out with the comb .just try to do it as and when , she did get some knots on her rear quarters but these haev been sorted by cutting off the matt and gentle combing.

She had her annual jabs two weeks ago and the vet said dont bother at her age and the fact she is now an indoor cat to have the leukemia boost,

She is going in next week for an MOT to check her BP and body functions like liver ,thyroid etc.

We love her to bits so know where you are Minx

Update

Minx´s hip has been playing her up badly (it has had her, me and Mini in tears) so we went yesterday to the vet. She was carried round. So she is held off epi meds as she has now been put on anti.inflammatories and our vet bless her hadn´t read up on epilepsy and other medication. .
And Shock :-0 horror :-S Miss Piggie is on a diet :-( :-( She has to lose 1.5kg no I am not surprised as I knew she was beginning to have a few of wobbly bits.

I've said this on here before, but I can tell you all again that Uzzi has the most beautiful, best-kept and loved doggies (won't say mutts, because I hate that word) I've ever had the pleasure to meet.

I´m a sloppy sod where my mutts are concerned, but they are mine and they are my babies. I wouldn´t tolerate over-anti-sociable behavior (well not in me mutts OH is a different matter) and I always knew Minx was push over hooligan. I feel sorry for her now because she doesn´t play with others because for awhile I couldn´t let her. Now she sits on the side lines and watches her sis play with new friends and she doesn´t know how. :-( Maybe with the new meds I can let her play with others <3 <3

That's a shame even though you knew it would most likely happen, hopefully the new meds will have no major side effects and she has less fits when they are in her system.

Ann I am hoping it helps ..she still will wake us in cold weather at 3am because she wants to get on the bed, but at least we hope we aren´t falling out of bed trying to untangle her from a fit at 3am (as we did last Saturday). Nor will we have check that she isn´t playing Mrs Underfoot for 2/3 days after a fit (she gets very clingy).

She is 9 now and I was so reluctant to put her on meds that will eventually kill her, that I was playing a fine line between meds and fits.

Aaw poor minx. Hopefully the new meds will have no side effects and will give her new life.

After much putting off, the time has finally arrived that Minx has to go on full time epilepsy treatment.

We went to the new vets today to get a prescription for her valium, as Saturday she had 2 rather nasty major fits, and the new vet said no more. The fits are too frequent and too major.
The good news :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D is that there is a new drug on the market that is no longer harmful to the liver and kidneys. That also does away with the need for constant blood monitoring. Also which my purse is happy with at about €1 a day it will come in slightly cheaper than the old medication.
Even better news is with a prescription I can probably buy it on line from the company for half the cost ..will have to work the shipping costs out on that one mind as it´s a UK company.

It isn´t the cost that worries me really ..it sounds a lot when buying a full box of a 100 tablets but at 2 tabs a day well what is a euro compared to her health.
I have to hope that she doesn´t get side affects ...increased appetite, thirst are mmm not required for my little podgy mutt but can be curbed but the dodgy tummy and vomiting is a no no and will pull her off the meds straight away. There is also a chance that no meds will treat her, but that is only slight.

Talking to the vet she said that a fit every 2 months is acceptable when they are mild but considering Minx´s are of more than one minute and severe even that is borderline. The fact that she is having them every 2 to 3 weeks and often 2 in 24rs and the fact that they last between 3and 5minutes often with another 10 to get her feet properly then it is no longer acceptable.
She was fantastic with her as we had to take her in too be weighed. She read her diary weighed her, played with her made the phone call to order the meds and NO consultation fee :-0
We pick the meds up on Friday and then it should take 2 wks to get in the system. We can only wait and see.
My poor little hooligan lol she isn´t happy at the moment either as the weather turned cold and affected her hip so she can´t jump on the bed so easy now.. <3 <3
