Has anyone ever had a message saying" ink absorber full."
I have a Canon printer pixma MP210 7 years old and never gone wrong before. I googled the problem and all the advice seems to be to take it to a repairer reccomended by Canon.

I would like to know if it's something i can fix myself as there are no shops here that can repair this. If I can't sort it i will have to buy another printer.

Any help or advice would be appreciated
Thanks

It is not economic to take it in for repair - a new one is only around £ 30! No idea what DABS or CCC would charge for shipping to Stornoway though. Macbrayne may know.

If you are mean and patient and have steady hands and time to spare this will get it working at zero cost. ( The whole range is much the same).

tip: do this on top of several sheets of drawing paper and have something to stop screws and such falling on the floor. The drawing paper ( white ) makes it ez to find small dropped items. Or maybe I am just clumsy - took 90 mins to fix an old MP240.

good luck

Replacements are much cheaper than they used to be. I bought a Canon Pixma MG2150 a few months ago for £30 from A---s - printer, copier, scanner & fax.

Thanyou both for replying. yes a new one will cost around £30 but was curious to know if the problem was easy to solve.
We have a xmas fair 7 dec and oh wants to print out photos to sell this weekend. i checked local A***S store and of course the one for £29.99 is out of stock!

Will have to order online through A****N and hope it wont take too long.

Weather all calm just now so no problem with deliveries hopefully!

90 minutes seems a long time and a lot of patience i guess!

Thanks for the advice,

Don't know about other makes. But I had the same problen a while ago with my Epson. The pad is visible when I open up the cover over the ink cartridges - which I have to do to change a cartridge.

I used a bit of cloth wrapped along a pencil. Gently pressing it into the pad (which was saturated!) transferred some of the ink to the rag. It took a while, and more rag, but it worked.

If you can see the pad (mine is a little square of sponge-type material) you should be able to do the same.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers?

Sometimes printers and PCs stop talking to each other!

one of my Epson printers came out with a fault error and the cure was to send it to Epson repairer.
the actual " fault" is a timer which counts the number of pages printed, which times out and generates the message........however there WAS an online free fix, meant resetting the timers........
