Who chooses the music

for Strictly competitors? It very rarely bares a resemblence to the beat of the dance. In my day - one listened to the opening bars of the music and knew what dance you would do. Now - anybody's guess. Tonight an Elvis number was ruined by some female. Even Len last week commented the correct type of music was played - I think it was for the pasa doble.

Between this and motor mouth - have lost most of the pleasure even with the 'mute' button.

An old friend today asked me where the American Smooth came from? :-S

Oh dear, I do sound like a grumpy old woman!!!

I'm not at all musical - so not sure if that is why I didn't like the music this week.

I suppose that they sing well - jsut doesn't seem easy to dance to.

I noticed last week that of the two couples in the dance off - it was the couple with the most upbeat music that were saved.

Don't know if this has been the case in previous weeks.

Sometime during the last series we were told that the production team give the professional dancers a choice of three pieces of music and the pro. chooses the one they want.

As the dancers practise to a recording, the singers have to sound as much like the original as possible. On the whole, I think they do a good job.

I think the singers are brilliant and wonder why they don't produce a CD

I think the whole band are brilliant....and agree about the suitability of the music.

Last weeks pasa doble was the right sort of music we associate with the dance...this weeks didnt seem right at all,nor did the charleston...the beat didnt seem right to me either in that.

Maybe this was an anti climax after Blackpool which was excellent?

I do not criticise the band - it is the suitablity of the music to the dance. As I have said even Len mentioned it last week.

The arrangement of the Elvis number last night was crucified. In no way was it close to the original and not a female's song IMHO.
