First it was the ants ..they have gone. Then I thought I might have mice ..but no just bio-degradable carrier bags.

Actually it all started many, many years ago with a magpie called Monty who arrived in my garden and stayed out his life, during this time a racing pigeon arrived and stayed so we called him (please don´t groan) Walter. There has been other wild animals that have trundled or leapt through my house the odd fox a few hedgepigs sorry hogs, a robin with a broken wing,

Last week I had a bat...just laying there on the floor, so I put said bat safe and the next day it was gone. This happened a couple of times ..but hey it was windy. Then today our tenants came down to say there was a bat on the terrace. mmmm should have flown by now but OH went to check put HER safe, went back later on next call to bring Nora downstairs so she didn´t hurt herself if she flew and fell.
Checked Nora out mid afternoon and discovered that not only did we have Nora but we also have Norman. :-0 So Nora and Norman Batty are now in a box they can fly out, out of harms way with me wondering what !!!! do I do with a couple of bats that seem to want to stay in my driveway in Spain.

see I said it was batty and I didn´t name Nora the 1st bat ;-)

Just been to check my bats and both Nora and Norman are bedded in for the night ....
personally I am worried that they may think I am a Swiss euthanasia home, or an African come here to die.
Come to think of it what was Nora Batty´s hubby name ?? no prizes for guessing

sounds lovely Uzzi - I think all these animals are communicating with each other and have you down as a soft touch <3 <3 <3 <3

I love to see the bats flitting about. We get a regular visitor but none have set up home with us yet.

I don't know if Nora mentioned her (departed?) husband but Compo had the hots for her :-0

Well island I can hardly call him dearly departed so Norman it is----just going to check on the be back soon

Well both bats are still there , so OMG what do I so with them now??

Bats in your belfry dear? Oh my, be careful, you will get a reputation as a wild life rescue centre and will be inundated with critters!

Check if they are considered an endangered species in Spain. If they are take them as far away from your home as possible and attach the box to a tree somewhere. The last thing you'd want are permanent residents which might mean that you aren't allowed to make renovations which could disturb them.

If they aren't and you like having them around, try and get hold of or make a permanent wooden 'bat box' and attach it to the outside of your house. As they like dark condition to roost, place on the shady side where they won't catch the sun

Ah ah Liz I used to live in a house that was Bats Inn, Belfry Ave.
I couldn´t find out whether they were endangered in Spain as they are in the UK but I did everything that websites said .....
Sadly when I looked the next day Nora has died, I did think she was old. Norman had flown. BUT today he came back. I feared I was about to have another dead bat thankfully by 6pm he had flown.

I don´t particular want bats in my belfry but they are an animal that I couldn´t harm so if they want to live at mine, then I will find a way (aslong as they don´t hurt my mutts)

And yes I shed a tear at the loss of Nora and yes I am going to bury her not just shove her in the bin.
So RIP Nora Bat and lets hope Norman stops looking for her <3
