I've just invested (Coopers of Stortford) £2.99 in a weather forecaster. And it costs me £5 in petrol to get to Porthcawl and secure my piece of seaweed.

And quite dangerous on the rocksin Rest Bay. I am old, and I am cold. I need some help to reap my kelp. :-) :-)

Panic buying is a very strange phenomena.

People don't just buy up things they need. Once they are gone they just buy all of whatever is left, whether they ever use it, or even know what to use it for, or not.

I remember there having been some unusual thing having been forecast, can't remember what. I had enough in to see us through it and more but I was making something that required pin head oatmeal.

I knew Budgens had some so I popped in to get a packet. It was all gone.

Now there's a thing you would be lost without for a couple of days!

I have a very accurate weather forecast gadget and its virtually free to make.

Just cut a piece of string about 6 inches long and nail to a suitable surface in the garden then it will forecast as follows:

String dry - weather fine

String wet - Rain

String cold and wet - snow

String stiff - ice and frost

Cant see string - Fog

String disappeared - strong gales or you live in a high crime risk area and your forecaster has been nicked :-D

Daily Express is forecasting 20C heatwave next week. Stock up on sun cream.

Me?? I poke me nose outside each morning and dangle a bit of seaweed. Now I will start panic buying of suncream and lava bread (bara lawr) - £1.79 in Tesco. Our favourite seaweed meal. :-) :-) Rich in iodine, gives you lots of go ;-)

I'm not panicking ...but, I might be later as I have to go out shopping :-( I will report back if there are empty shelves everywhere :-D

Today's Daily Star main front page headline '-9c Killer Chiller - Epidemic of chest infections. Panic Buying at supermarkets'. This is in relation to the story that we might get snow in the next week or so.
Inside there is a sub headline 'Fear of Panic Buying as freeze hits'' this is next to a photograph of empty supermarket shelves and then if you look closely the small print admits ''how the shops MIGHT look IF the panic buying peaks next week''

If that's not irresponsible enough the same newspaper advocates drinking whisky or a hot toddy despite medical experts warning about the effects drinking alcohol in cold weather
