modern appliances are far more efficient than ones bought 10, 20 or 30 years ago!

Bob .......

you are actually wasting money by resuscitating your fridge by spending £10.20on a new thermostat!

It is probable that buying a new one would save you at least that much in the first year of operations!

Could be your new appliances are more energy efficient or we had a better summer this year than last :-)

I would have soldiered on with the old fridge freezer had it not been for Comet's demise but I wonder if that was what was using all the power.

I don't have an electric car but I do drive a diesel Smart, couldn't be much more economical than that.

That's good - are they coal or petrol powered? ;-)

With that sort of luck, may I humbly suggest that you buy an electric car.

(And yes, we've had heaps of things pack up recently and have revived our economy, single handedly!)

After Fred mullered the cooker and Comet had it's problems I had to go appliance shopping last year.

New cooker, American fridge freezer and we have had a new television.

The electricity bill came today and, according to the analysis bit, we have used 31% less fuel than in the corresponding period last year.

Now I can stop fretting about spending that money.
