Dear All

Hello

As always, thank you very much for taking the time to reply. :-)

It is always heartening to hear when a GP and the practice
go out of their way to help.

I have the same problems in contacting my GP practice.
You cannot get through on the telephoneand recently,
because of staff shortage, waited nearly two weeks to see a GP.

Take gentle care all <3
Very best wishes

Oh you lucky people!

Our doctors are all great.....it's just getting to see them that's the problem. Only recently did they change from the expensive 0844 number. When you ring first thing in a morning to make an appointment to be seen that day by any of the 6 doctors, you can't even get in a phone queue as it will just answer to ring later if the line's busy. You ring later, all appointments for the morning are gone and you are told to ring again after 11.00am when afternoon appointments will be released........and have the same performance all over again and are told to ring the next morning! It is so difficult that we go and queue outside the surgery before it opens in a morning (often with about 30 other souls) in order to get a same day appointment booked before the phone lines open half an hour later. Then, if successful, you often have to go home and come back for your appointment later.....not good when you don't feel well.

Appointments in advance can be made as well, but if it's near the end of the month, the computer won't accept appointments for the following month, so it means ringing back nearer the time. There is no online booking and we can't order prescriptions online like you can at some surgeries.

I think I have only ever seen my own doctor a handful of times and it is difficult to get to see the same doctor when he says come back to see him in a fortnight. Then your appointment time gets used up just re-explaining things again to a different Doctor.

This is not an inner city surgery, it is a Midlands rural surgery.

Well....the staff are brilliant and so is one Dr in particular. l have changed preferences recently because my old Dr really is'nt listening, this is'nt just for me but my sister as well, l have to go in with her, she nearly refused to stay the other day because it was him!!...they have far too much to do, forms to fill in, chemists, D/nurses/hospitals etc to contact. We both now prefer the lady Dr.

This is the same as the Police, far too many forms etc to fill in!!

jude

PS...l always contact D/nurses, local hosp etc as well as my Dr doing so because he often forgets!!

My GP of over 26 years had to retire owing to illness this April, he was a great doctor and will be truly missed by all his patients.

My new GP was his locum during the 18 months he was off sick battling his illness. I have only seen her twice in the past 2 years both for annual reviews of BP medication. I am due another one soon but don't look forward to going to the surgery because I don't think she liked my refusing to be put on statins. :-| No cholesterol problem so saw no reason to start taking the medication.

"Are you happy with your GP?".

I'll be happy if I never see mine again.

Actually he is pretty good, but it is difficult to get an appointment.

Best wishes Elizabeth Happy days

My GP is a personable young man (well young to me) - a few months ago OH rang and asked for a house visit the following day - there was no great emergency.

He was on the doorstep an hour later - surgery had contacted him on his rounds.

Our group practice has never been any problem for me. Ages, since I actually saw a doctor but I phoned in the morning and had an appointment that morning. We can also book on line if there is a slot. They reserve a few slots for the putpose. doctors I have seen have all been very good, very pleasant, nice manner.

Hospital as outpatient has always been very good, sometimes have to wait but always an apology and a reason.

I have no complaints about the doctors and staff at my local surgery - so not sure what the Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt means when he says - he is bringing back proper family doctors :-S

Just wish politicians of all persuasions would stop using gimmicks and spin about the NHS to hide from their own failed policies.

Keep you hands off my GP :-)

I am troubled occasionally by a couple of complaints and I ring up and ask for a phone consultation. One of the doctors phones me on my mobile (usually late morning) so I don't even have to go there or take any time off work; apart from maybe getting there a bit late if it is a Monday and I have to keep redialling till I get an answer.

After a quick chat they do me a repeat prescription and I go straight to the chemist after work to pick it up.

Even one time I was able to go on the Practice website and download a self-referral form for the physio. Luckily, I work in an office and could print it off there & also know how to work the fax machine so I could fax it to the local physio department. The drawback was trying to phone the physio for an appointment - I had to do that on my day off because it took half an hour to get through. :-(

Mon - Fri you can get a same day appointment.

I love all the GPs in the practice. not that I see them much but when I do they are great. They were wonderful with my elderly parents as well.

Ours are excellent

Its now a group practice and providing you dont mind which doctor you see you can get an appointment very quickly .

They also have 3 nurses that do routine blood checks blood pressure etc and will consult one of the doctors when you are there if they need guidance on anything

They do anual MOTS !! and follow up on anything that needs a follow up in between

They must have their computer up to speed!! and giving out daily on what any particular patient needs following up on.

I am well impressed wih their service. YES we all know that monday morning is manic so we have to wait for the phone to be answered but that too they have in hand with a message to leave your name and number and they will get back to you ,AND they do

Dear All

Hello

As part of contract negotations, GP's in England will not have to provide
consultations with each patient, lasting 10 minutes.

My questions are:

How quickly can you get an appointment?

Do you feel your GP helps you?

Take gentle care
Best wishes
