Making paper lanterns;
Making a calendar by covering a piece of board with wallpaper, choosing an old Christmas or Birthday card to put on the front.
Stencilling a Christmas card ( I still have the one I made for mum about 1963, I see I had trouble remembering that there is an 'h' in Christmas ;-) )
Making a snow scene, in plaster of paris, poured into a foil pie dish, and decorated with a robin, holly etc.
Or taking in a log and glueing on cotton wool and robin or snowman cake decoration.

What else?

I do remember making cards, calendars and paper chains at primary school.

At High school I remember how the Art section would decorate the main hall where all the concerts and school parties were held. They would have a them and the huge decorations would be made in art classes. I seem to remember one year it was an underwater theme. Lots of huge fish and seaweed fronds etc.

There were three cardboard figures at the back of the stage one year, made by the art department. They were supposed to be the magi but we called them Freeman, Hardy and Willis.

My first school carol service in the village church when the vicar said we would be only singing one verse of Once In Royal David's City and we had to sit while the organist churned on through all the others oblivious to the silence behind him.
