Desperate for ideas for OH Christmas. He loves his coffee but over years had bought/dumped various filter machines as the coffee becomes stewed.

Has anyone got one of these? Do you have to buy pods all the time and is a pod = 1 coffee?

If you have one would you recommend and forgive the daft questions but as I am tied to OH I have to rely on PC for 'secret shopping' in particular.

I have one got it for last Christmas

I have Lattes that way I don't have to get out of my chair as the machine is next to me (coffee pod and milk pod)

I only normally have 2 a day and as a pack of 8 cost about a fiver it could work out expensive

OMG - Jax OH has tea first thing and from then on it is endless coffee!!!

I think just the plain coffee pods work out cheaper...Worth googling for them

OH got some on offer the other day 2 packs for £6 but they were few and far between

I got my machine as making my own and transporting it to the lounge was difficult

Looking at Tesco the ordinary coffee's (no milk) come in packs of 16 for about £3.79/ £3.89 at the moment

We have one.....very expensive if used all day.......like all gadgets in the end, mine has gone to putitawayfornowwitherestofthegadgets heaven ;-)

I have used mine everyday for a year now (early Christmas prezzie) but as I said I only have a couple or three a day.

It was either that, a flask of coffee or going without until OH comes home from work :-)

Susan, OH calles those gadgets, 'under the sink gadgets' because that is where a lot of people store them!!

It sits most of its time tucked in one corner of the work surface. Have brought various types of pods and tried many of them and thought nope don't like that .too strong or bitter.

Mostly use it to make a latte, and expresso for OH but as the pods are expensive only have these once or twice a week .
I do look out for offers though even if don't need them immediately

We have a small espresso machine. It doesn't use the pods, just regular ground coffee.

The pods are so expensive!

Ours isn't one of those monsters you need a pilot's license for...... it's simple to use. We've had it for years (at least 17), and wasn't expensive.

I'm sure similar ones are available.

Out of interest, are the 'Pods' interchangable between the different makes of machines, or do you have to buy ones that say they are suitable for the one you have?

I don't think they are interchangeable as they have a bar code which is read by the machine so it knows how much water to add with it
