Dear All

Hello

On this day, in 1980, the actor Steve McQueen passed away.

Born Terence Steven McQueen in March 1930, he became the highest paid actor by 1974.

During the american depression, he went to stay with his uncle and family.

Mr McQueen said "He was a very good man, very strong, very fair. I learned a lot from him.

"The day I left the farm Uncle Claude gave me a personal going-away present; a gold pocket watch, with an inscription inside the case." The inscription read: "To Steve – who has been a son to me.

Mr McQueen served in the armed forces. When he left, he did various jobs and secured small acting roles.

Now a cult film, his breakthrough movie was the sci-fi "The Blob".

Later films included "The Thomas Crown Affair" "Bullitt", "The Magnificent Seven" "The Great Escape" and "The Towering Inferno".

His passion was motor bikes.
