I've come to the conclusion that the police are like buses!

You don't see one for ages then sixteen turn up all at once :-|

Went into Bunbury this morning and one of the parking areas near to where the explosives were found was full of Police vehicles. The Police were holding an information day. Police horses etc.

Then, just past there, a speed camera.

Nothing strange about that, except that it was opposite the chemical factory which had an open day today and the main road was subject to physical traffic controls to facilitate access to the site. Although the main road has a 70 kph limit, it was impossible to do more than 30 kph :-| :-|

Then just as we got through there we saw at least four more police cars travelling in the direction of the parking area.

Does anyone know of a remote island that is for sale at a reasonable price??

We know of a guy who went fishing the "easy" way........ he was with a friend of ours when they were in Vietnam.

He threw a grenade in the river....... KABOOM...... dead fish everywhere..... and injured men, because the eejit used a shrapnel grenade instead of a stun grenade.

No, he wasn't an Aussie, he was US army.

I think they were all awarded purple hearts.

Well I hope that they did better than we usually do when we go crabbing :-(

Mind you, we use scoop nets, not explosives :-D

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 1 Nov 2013 20:46

probably they were hoping to get some for their dinner! :-D

lol Sylvia, it didn't, but at my age I get my excitement wherever I can :-D

The 6.00pm news stories all carried the story, and pictures.

I'm sure that I saw some of the Police and Service personnel looking for crabs and fish :-D

5.00 pm local time, just sat down for dinner.

Loud WHOOMPH!

The second cache of chemicals found were detonated by a controlled explosion in the Estuary.

Just glad the first lot didn't go up on the journey to Perth

Hmmmm

We're like you Allan, moved to a small town for the quiet life...

NOT!

I think we moved to Peyton Place :-D

Hi Sylvia,

Then we could have collected plenty of blue manna crabs: just so long as there were no dolphins in the estuary.

Unfortunately, heard on the news that one policeman has suffered chemical burns to his hand.

Had to go into town today, and the most direct route is via the road that runs parallel to the Estuary. One side, opposite the site, had at least 30 media vehicles complete with cameras

I don't know LadyScozz, but now the Navy Clearance Divers have been called in :-0

And the latest find will NOT be transferred to Perth :-D

Well finally, Australind is on the map (or was nearly off it) for all the wrong reasons!

The first inkling of what was to follow was given when Police announced that some ‘chemicals’ were to be transported to Gloucester Park for destruction.

All Perth town centre roads were closed during the transportation.

No indication that it had been found in Australind, which is about 170 kms south of Perth

I had to laugh when I heard that the police had transported this material from Australind to Perth, presumably via road, along one of the busiest Highways in WA and through the town Centre to Police HQ.

There is a perfectly good Police Station in Bunbury where the find could have been housed until a SMALL sample was taken to Perth for Analysis

This was the first haul of explosives found. Another has been found today

Police are still at the Australind site and I presume that they will be there for some time.

The site is less than 1 kilometre from where we live

Nowt to blow up in either Australind or Bunbury, although any demolition could only improve the appearance of Bunbury
