I am not wanting to or intending to respond to this but does anyone know if the following is a scam or genuine?

Hello.

If I had an email saying it would expire in 3 hours, I would think it was a scam.

I only look at mine on a weekly basis to delete all the rubbish

I would err on the cautious side - most e-mails of this type are usually a scam

Edit. Ann :-D :-D Did have a look first, but it is a phishing attempt that should immediately be deleted. If in doubt, wait for 3 hours to expire and then try your password to convince yourself it is phishing.

Didn't want to use it but I had not seen it before and put this up as a sort of warning. We, on here get used to scams and hopefully don't get caught. I am amazed at the people in our local paper who still get caught by the IT phone calls from foreign gentlemen.

Incidentally it didn't go into my spam box.

It's an absolute minefield for the trusting and unwary. We never had to worry it was a hoax every time we got a knock on door or phone call years ago, did we?

Have to rush. Meeting a Nigerian lady who lost her husband tragically in a plane accident. She has lots of money that the cruel Nigerian Government have confiscated unless it is transferred to a valid UK account for her. Hope I can help.

Thanks PP, I looked at that and it is interesting that people are concerned about it. I just intend to ignore it. But this reply was interesting and possibly true:

It is very likely that someone is convinced your Apple ID is really theirs, and they're repeatedly attempting to reset their password. They click on the link to send an email to have it reset. You get the email with the link to reset it. If you did not request your password to be reset, the obvious thing to do is to ignore it.

Far from concluding this is a security flaw, it validates Apple's account security. By not responding to the email, you effectively prevented whoever is initiating the password reset request from getting any further.

It's a good idea to change your Apple ID password once in a while, but you do not have to change your password every time you get an email like that. Ignore it, but you will continue to get the email every time some hapless individual thinks your email address is their Apple ID. This can occur to anyone, as long as Apple uses email addresses for Apple IDs.

I have just deleted it. I actually don't keep anything important on my IPad like bank accounts etc so not sure what they would get out of it if they did hack it. How I am doing in Candy Crush or solitaire maybe :-D
