Just hoping that someone on here can give me simple instructions to rid my computer of this browser engine that has replaced my Firefox and Google.........

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Can't you just search for Google on your browser then when you get the front page come up click on the 'make this my home page' option

Thanks for your suggestion Staffs Col. Have downloaded Google again but the same thing keeps happening when I click on shortcut buttons for Firefox and Google Chrome all I get is the qone8 browser :-S

You're not the only one with this problem by the look of the internet search I've just done. go to Ask Jeeves and type in "How do i get rid of quone8" loads and loads of information on how to get rid.

Thanks Rollo, but I already have BT Net Protect Plus that shows me that this search engine is unsafe ....... it is just so irritating that it keeps coming up when I want to go into Firefox or Google.... all I want to do is get rid of it !

Malware bytes will install some diagnostic software which will make a report. Send the report to one of the guys and you will get a customised fix.
Malware bytes is not unsafe!
Use the free version.

If you had any idea what you are doing I could post a fix but as it is unsafe to do so. Also do yourself a favour and dump BT Net Protect Plus - if it was any good you would not have quone8 which is one of a group of similar malware to affect browsers. The usual way of getting it is to install some free program - frequently fake security software!

Sorry Rollo, what I meant about BT Protect Plus is that it has shown that qone8 is unsafe ever since it appeared on my laptop! I believe that I may have got this nuisance by going into a site looking for an old song for a friend on f/b ! She was pleased I found it but unfortunately I have been left with this mess :-(

Well Quorn8 is a clone of a bunch of similar malware scripts and to repeat if BT Protect Plus was any good at all it would have picked it up. Junk it and install something that works eg NOD32 AVG BitDefender or even Microsoft Defender / Security Essentials.

The problem with getting rid of Quorn8 is that it keeps right on coming back just like the cat and attempts to get rid of it can make things worse. There is lots of fake software which will claim to remove it and does nothing of the sort but loads even more malware and so on. If you are not technically aware getting rid of it is next to impossible. Instead go to the guys at malware bytes and they will sort things out - it won't cost you anything. BleepingComputer is another good site for computer disasters.

If you want to go to sites with potentially dodgy stuff (a) put yr browser into anonymous mode and (2) use sandboxie. With sandboxie malware is confined to the sandbox and is ez to dump. It also help to keep yr browser up to date and use adblocking software ag AdBlockPlus. Never use old versions of IE ( 6,7,8 ).
If you are using Firefox then install NoScript. Only allow sites you trust to execute javascript - this cuts down problems no end.

There is a box under General

See what it says in the box,if it says Quone8 then delete that and put in either Google or Firefox which ever you prefer.

BT now provides a McAfee based package called NetProtect Plus. It is free to users on Infinity and Total Broadband (options 2 and 3) tariffs, but Broadband Option 1 customers have to pay £3.49 a month for the privilege. Log on to your My BT account and follow the links to the download. However, NetProtect has received mixed reviews and there are rather a lot of forums with users reporting problems with installation, activation and billing issues. If you want to keep things simple I suggest that you try Microsoft Security Essentials (http://goo.gl/tdpPO). It’s a complete security package, every bit as good as most commercial offerings, and as an added bonus it’s absolutely free.

Thank you Rollo for the information, that is the package I have from BT. :-)

At the moment it is showing that my laptop is fully protected and did send a message that they had blocked a trojan when my problem with qone8 first appeared.

All I want to do is remove all signs of the blasted browser ! :-|

you do not seem to understand that

(a) quone8 is serious and if left running will wreck yr computer software to the point that you will have to reinstall windows from scratch; if you have any sensitive stuff on yr machine eg bank account paypal DO NOT RUN IT until this is fixed
(b) BT Net protect is useless
(c) as a non technical person malwarebytes is the only place you can get it sorted

Joeva - I had a look at various options for getting rid of Quone8 and I really would advise you to go down the route suggested by RolloTheRed of using Malwarebytes to ensure you get Quone8 and all it's nasty bits totally removed from your computer.

Apologies for delay on returning to my thread.

I tried all the options suggested on here in an attempt to rid myself of the virus and although the downloads were free they all had to purchased for a full clean up of my computer.

After having a free scan by Spy Hunter I did purchase their package as it not only showed qone8 but also another site which kept coming up as the home page for Firefox and Google Chrome, after I thought I had deleted qone8.

Many thanks for all the help and advise I have been given by you all :-)

Download FREE AVG for virus free lappy/pc.

I don't know how you manage it.

malwarebytes is free - just download the free version, generate a report, post it and wait for instructions for removal of whatever

spywarehunter is itself malware !!!
