My Aunt in Norfolk recently sent me a copy of the local village magazine, the Stalham Scorcher which carried an interview with an elderly resident who had been at school at the same time as my Dad. Not only that but there was a reproduction of the school photograph from 1935 including her and my Dad. (I know since we have a copy of the original).

The lady in the article was wondering if she was the eldest person still alive from the photo and what had happed to the others so this evening I have e-mailed the editor giving her a timeline of my Dad's life to pass on to the elderly lady in case she remembers him after all these years.

Sadly Dad passed away in 2011 but he would have loved to read of his old school and classmate

Would be lovely if she got in touch Col, what a pity your dad didn't get to read about his old school and pals.

Yep although Dad had left Norfolk for good around 1950 he was still very proud of his roots and the fact he went to the same grammar school as Admiral Nelson - he would have been thrilled to find someone from his junior schooldays.

Hi Col, I am not far from Stalham, we go through it when we go to Hemsby and Happisburgh altho sometimes we take the shorter route to Hemsby and go via Potter Heigham and Ludham.

It would be lovely if the lady contacts you and tells you stories about your Dad as a schoolboy - hope she does.
