Tomorrow raise a tot of rum and toast the Immortal Memory of Lord Nelson who died at the Battle of Trafalgar on 21 October 208 years ago.

I wonder looking forward who we will look back on and consider a hero in the same vein

Dear All

Hello

Staff Col, I have a video tape somewhere of the
200th anniversary celebrations from 2005.

Magnificent they were too.

So I raise my cup to Lord Nelson.

Take gentle care
Best wishes
Elizabeth, EOS
xx

'A fascinating study has revealed that of the c13,000 sailors & marines who served under Lord Nelson at Trafalgar, 10% were foreign born.

Today's British armed forces continue to rely on outside help‘.

(The Times 21.10.13).

Not forgetting Lord Collingwood, Nelson's second in command,
who took over from him at Trafalgar.

.....and he was Newcastle born and bred. :-D

Born in Burnham Thorpe, Norfolk on September 29th, 1758 - Norfolk's claim to fame!

I have a Nelson bust as a silver charm on a bracelet, it came from the hotel where I worked once, which was named after Nelson, done out in Scandanavian decor (1971) and our uniforms were trimmed with gold braid like naval uniforms.
