If your new table is the one in the picture Uzzi, it's lovely
Hope you are really happy with your choice, what are you going to put in the planter?

Well abandoned the Ikea wooden table and on 2nd look the marble table also but I bought the planter I wanted and the solid wood table that matched it ! It wasn´t cheap but cheaper than the marble, I still have to buy chairs to match but as OH said I liked it the 1st time round it was only the marble changed my mind.

See never 2nd guess lol

Lol poor you Uzzi, so unfair that you made a decision and then it was scuppered!

hope you get the plant holder/screen you want and can see something else that fits the bill for the table idea that won't break the bank and will be available, complete with chairs

*falls on thread* wow I have finally got in ? Duh now where was I ?
Oh yes......, I took everything on-board that everybody had said as well as my own doubts, and talked myself out of the marble table. So yesterday I went to buy the 4/ 8/10 seater wooden that I originally wanted and guess what ....
SOLD OUT. unless I want to buy in Leeds !!!!

I am going to look at the marble again on Friday, not for the table but for an amazing plant holder/ screen. BUT as OH says if I bought the marble I would want good chairs also and the cost of them will take the price sky high.

The reason I am thinking of buying now is the marble is a one off sale, as for the wood I am looking at sales.
I am teetotal I haven´t touched tea since I was 8yrs old . :-D

mind I will be okay with marble because I don´t drink red wine and I rarely spill what I do drink. ;-)

So I am back to the drawing board :-(

It sounds stunning, but would it be comfortable to sit at?
We had a white table outdoors and found the sun shining on it produced too much glare on the eyes.

Uzzie.
Had you thought about buying the cheaper set & having a slab of marble cut to go on top of the table?
Might work out cheaper, particularly if you can get an "offcut of marble & you could choose exactly what you want.
Also it could be replaced in a few years if it gets damaged.

What they eat is important, berries stain after passing through a bird and landing with a splat on a nice marble table.

Is this the time to be buying furniture for outside Uzzi, I mean I know you won't have the winter weather we will get but maybe leave it a while and see if you still love the marble table or see something even better but a bit more moveable. Presumably the Ikea option will still be available later on too.

I know, I am sitting on the fence lol but maybe you will have to toss a coin in the end to make a decision

love

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 20 Oct 2013 22:41

Go for it Uzzi!

Ask if the marble has been sealed, because it will stain; especially if it's outside....leaves, bird poo etc... red wine!

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 20 Oct 2013 22:25

I think only you can know really if you want it so much you will always regret it Uzzi. Another consideration is, do you know absolutely that you will always stay in that house? If you really rlly wan it and can afford it, go for it. :-)

UzziAndHerDogs

UzziAndHerDogs Report 20 Oct 2013 20:51

Wend T loves the table but says it is up to me, I think he wants it but it's my money and he will not voice an opinion, Grrrrr

This is so difficult

Wend

Wend Report 20 Oct 2013 20:39

Uzzi, I agree with GiN - if you don't you'll regret it! What does T think, or doesn't he have a say in the matter? :-D

Annx

Annx Report 20 Oct 2013 20:38

Well it wouldn't suit me as I like to move my table about to other positions at times and that would be far too heavy. It doesn't have to please me though, so if you really want it you should buy it. Have you thought about marble scratching as it is soft and that some fruits and red wine would stain a light coloured marble? Just things to think about if you intend it to last and look good. :-)

UzziAndHerDogs Report 20 Oct 2013 20:33

Okay time to respond
Wend I wish you was here to see what I want to do.

The table I want is white marble it will look stunning and the area I want it in will work ( I hope)
Rose this table I can not imagine ever not wanting and if I am honest I would have loved this when I was 20 and I will love it when I am 80 (hopefully),

If it was half the price It would be in my garden now, I know it´s what I want but can I justify the cost

To all that have responded thanks
It makes my decision harder but it makes my purchase easier

Wend

Wend Report 20 Oct 2013 20:22

We have a wooden table in our garden, which is ideal for us because when the family comes round we can seat 8 comfortably around it, and at a push 10. We've had it for quite a few years now, but I've always maintained it by polishing regularly and covering it in the winter. Our neighbours bought a similar one at about the same time as we did, but didn't look after it and they chucked theirs out a couple of years ago in favour of a modern glass one. Trouble is, the glass gets really hot when the sun's out and they have to put a cloth on it whether they want to or not!

I'd love a marble one though! :-D
