I DON'T BELIEVE IT......
MY NUROLOGIST HAS CHANGED MY APPOINTMENT
FROM 30TH OCTOBER 2013
TO
APRIL 2014
6 MONTHS AWAY ,,,,,,,,,,,,
THIS ISN'T GOOD NEWS
LAST YEAR I HAD EVERY APPOINTMENT CANCELLED :-( :-( :-(

That's not good Dizzi,
can't you ring his secretary,and find out why.
They should give you an answer.

I had one appointment changed 5 times Dizzi.

I don't think the appointments people consider that the doctor saying when they want to see you again means just that.

Phone them and insist on a date this side of christmas.

That's disgraceful Gwen, hope you can get a new appointment much sooner than that!

I think most hospitals now rely on a very small group of specialists. So, if something happens (sickness, family bereavement, emergencies), appointments are altered and then it snowballs as there is no one else to bring in.

I noticed that here in Wales, one suggestion recently has been to levy a fizzy drinks tax and use the monies raised for new doctors and consultants during these times of cutbacks. We need to train and retain more doctors, but in the short term we will have to source them from abroad.

Certainly, the staffing and retainment of these key people needs to be addressed - probably by outside the box thinking - as we age and need more help in the UK.

Cos they are useless at getting their brains into gear.

my daughter age 23 has a benign tumor on her pituitary gland.

she has to wait 5months to see a consultant.

At our local hospital the people who arrange appointments are not connected to any particular department. They work through the calendar and don't seem to know about cancellations etc.

I had an appointment I couldn't keep and rang the department, who offered me a choice of dates, all of them sooner than the original appointment.

It is always worth ringing and asking - they can only say No, and you are no worse off. :-) :-)
