Hmm...I notice that they're guaranteeing a 10 million pounds jackpot this week plus 1,000 winners of £20,000 each. Goes without saying that I'd love the 10 mil but even the £20,000 would come in very useful right now :-D

Thank you OFITG :-)

I was trying to work out what could get deleted on a thread as innocuous as one about the lottery.

Thinking about it, if I have time I might just buy a ticket for tonight (I play online, saves losing the ticket ;-) )

As they say if you don't try you don't win, had quite a few £10 wins plus £98 once on EuroMillions, and in 1979 won £3,300 on Rangers Pools plus £1,975 on Littlewwods in 1987, anyone else been lucky :-)

Hi AnnC, just a thought, could it be that the one who spent £290.
was buying for a syndicate, if not, there must be a lot of rich
people in Welshland. !!!!!!!! :-D

We make a point of not doing the same numbers every week so have a lucky dip, that is to guard against missing out if the numbers come up when we don't do it.

We do the lottery too as a bit of fun cos not able to get out now socially so not spending money on nights out ,

We do like a glass or two or wine at the weekend but that's the extent of of our luxuries

OneFootInTheGrave

OneFootInTheGrave Report 5 Oct 2013 15:25

As I gave up alcohol over 10 years ago, also that I have substantially reduced my cigarettes, and that due to mobility problems can no longer get to my weekly night out at the bingo, and that where I will be going I cannot take my money with me :-D my £6 a week on the lottery is my little bit of fun, but that's all it is, a bit of fun, if I win I win if, I don't I don't, I won't lose any sleep over it, all the increase means to me is I will buy one ticket less each week :-)

O.F.I.T.G. I do exactly the same .All Lucky Dips.(Don,t think they have any numbers that I have) but from now instead of the new £2 ticket I will get the Hospital one at £1. I think they are trying to rip people off even more.:o((>

I would love to know what you said in your last two posts OFITG :-S

I very rarely play the lottery and if I do it's usually the Euromillions so I doubt it'll have much of an impact on me. The only real difference is that I'll probably choose the Euro one over our own more often.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 5 Oct 2013 11:01

It won't change the number of tickets/lines we buy as we only occassionally have a 'punt' perhaps 4 lines a month between the two of us, 2 of those on the Euro Lottery.

Long term frequent players who have used the same lines week after week must be in a quandary. If they halve the number of lines purchased, in the back of their minds will be that the dropped ones will come up for a major prize.

It’s a mugs game really, and should only be played if you can afford the cost. One of the offspring runs a syndicate at work – 14 participants paying for entry into the Wednesday and Saturday draw. They’ve never recouped the cost over the 4 week period in the two years it’s been running.

Retailers have said that if the number of line is halved, they will still get the same amount in commission. The Inland Revenue will also still receive their 12%. That’s from your taxed income, don’t forget!
