First, don't any men bother to do the "Ha, ha,I don't wear it" or "the colours don't suit me bit" because it wasn't even mildly amusing the first time it was said.

Now, for anybody who does use nail varnish, Crabtree and Evelyn have started doing it at £6 a bottle and it is good stuff with some excellent colours. and covers very well.

The offer they have going is that you get 20% discount if you buy two, rising to 40% if you buy four.

Yes, I have four bottles when I didn't even mean to get any..

That means you get four for £14 something.

I think I am probably too old to wear this really but I bought a set of crackle varnish, black it is, in Home Bargains yesterday while I was buying the sumptuous presents for the carers.

It was £2.99 for four bottles, two base colours, a black crackle and a top coat and I love it!

I would have to take my glasses off to do the Goth eye make -up and then I wouldn't be able to see what I was doing so only about the hands really.

The pound shop was selling OPI crackle varnish the other week. I bought three! I can only wear it at weekend, we cannot wear fancy varnish at work. It is a begger to remove, as it dries matt, and you have to pop a coat of clear over it.

The new thing this year, so I am led to believe is Ombre varnish.

Clear varnish base coat.

Dark varnish over whole nail. Dry.

Medium varnish from middle to tip of nail. Dragging so no definite line. Dry.

White or pale varnish on tip. Dry.

Top coat. Seems like a lot of work to me!

Also one of the large polish lines is making 'snowflake' varnish. Pop it on top of your colour.

Aaaaaah, pretty!

The silver will be great on my toes Bob. I have a fabbo pair of shoes to show me tootsies off.

Bung it down the cyber hatch.

Let me know when, I can duck. A black eye would not be co-ordinating!
