as very few of them, if any, have ever lived "in the real world", they'll never have any idea what it is like - the vast majority of them come from privileged backgrounds - well privileged in that they were born with a silver spoon in their mouth

the fact that they will all be drinking champagne at the party conference is a clear indication of their background

No I don't think he is compassionate as a PM, but then neither has any other PM been, I don't think a political party can ever be described thus (as a whole, not as individuals). He may be earnest and eager to 'hit the right note' but doesn't see that he is often woefully off-key.

'Compassionate' in the sense of "put them out of their misery by shortening their bleak, worthless little lives" maybe?

OneFootInTheGrave

OneFootInTheGrave Report 30 Sep 2013 12:32

In an interview in the Sunday Telegraph the Prime Minister David Cameron said he and his government are a compassionate lot :-S

Am I missing something, my impression is that, if you live in a council house with a spare bedroom, if you are sick, disabled, or frail, if you are unemployed, if you claim any kind of benefit, and if your total household income is less than £26,000, then you do not exist :-|

The current government is compassionate - they will be telling us next that a herd of elephants have been swimming up the River Thames, this is what he said:-

"But let me be clear, I am also a Prime Minister who is a modern compassionate Conservative who believes that there is a very important role for government in making sure that we look after the poorest in our society, that we are a compassionate society, that we give people opportunities who aren't necessarily born with them. We are not going to abandon that."
