there was a query on 'silent funerals' here, no definite answer I don't think? Possibly Quaker? or no service?

You will need the buy the death certificate - £ 9.25

If the person was either famous or notorious better information about cause of death can be found in the press of the time. Sometimes there will be death records in workhouses and other institutions such as the armed services.

The guy seems to have been a Quaker - they have pretty good records and may still have his cause of death and what led up to it.

To find out the details of his death you would need to purchase a copy of his death certificate.

To find out the cause of death you would have to order the death certificate.

hi ggg g father Thomas cowburn born 1841 died 1880 in Hindley...can someone please tell me how to find out how he died. also does anyone know what a silent funeral was....thanks :-S
