Hi - Can anyone suggest another family tree package which includes overseas records. I have looked at Ancestry which is quite expensive, any other ideas - Viv Bourne End :-)

It depends which countries.

Have you tried Familysearch which is free?
I think FMP has a US version, but don't know the details.

Hi thank you for replying and the Familysearch info which did not know about, I am most interested in the US and tracing my father's merchant seaman's records which are world wide ! I have had some success through ancestry in the past and could subscribe with them worldwide again but it is expensive. Perhaps I should just do it and offer to do look ups for others. I fell out with G Re U when they altered the format of the tree some time ago but their community is the best and I miss it. Viv :-)

Viv, if you want to post details on Find Ancestors board of who you're looking for there are always quite a few of us happy to do look ups for you.

EDIT: FindMyPast also do a worldwide membership, costs about £90 for 6 months, records aren't quite as comprehensive as Ancestry's but it does include some US newspapers.

I took out a sub to the US version of FMP last year .................. thank heavens it was a very cheap special offer, because I did not find it very good.

I did not renew this year.

The search engine was poor, and I never seemed table to find records without a great deal of messing around!
