Hello



On 11 September 2001, there were four terrorist attacks on the USA.

Two hijacked planes crashed into the World Trade Centre in New York.


The Pentagon was also severely damaged and a fourth plane crashed in a field near Pittsburgh.

The news broadcasts of the the World Trade Centre collapsing, shown around the world, were some of the most devasting images ever seen

The number of people killed was well over 3,000.

It took almost nine months to clear the millions of tons of rubble
at "Ground Zero" where the World Trade Center had once stood.

12 years later, many of those who survived suffer from severe respiratory illness, post trauma and many other medical problems.

In 1999 we met an American couple on holiday in Jamaica, Jenny and I kept in touch and we were due to visit with them, in New York for new year 2001...

Jenny had an office in The Trade Centre....

In the days following I mailed her a number of times in the hope I would get a reply, telling us she was fine.....I never did

I still often wonder what became of her...

My Cousin worked in a building opposite the twin towers and had to get out in the subway under the towers, one of happenings you'll always remember what you where doing when you heard about it.

I remember that day in horror as I watched it unfold on TV.

The bravery of the police and Firefighters was nothing short of wonderfull and so many lost their lives helping others.

I remember all who lost their lives that day today and always :-(

Horrific and never will be forgotten. A week later we flew to Florida to Orlando with daughter and family. We bought T shirts with the Eagle on and wherever we went the Americans thanked us for our support, they were very patriotic about it, very AMERICAN and so upset about their countrymen as you would be. A horrible time for them. And security at airports was horrendous but everyone queuing was very patient.

I hope that such a horrible attack doesn't happen again. You can only hope

The attacks that took place on the twin towers of The World Trade Center and The Pentagon on 11 September 2001 were heinous crimes, for as long as I live I will never forget the unbelievable sequence of events that I witnessed on the television that day.

My thoughts and prayers are for all those who lost their lives that day, for all their families, friends, and colleagues, and my respect goes to all those who struggled in horrendous & dangerous circumstances to rescue people trapped in the rubble.

it was a Tuesday and my husband and I were in Abergavenny - first I heard about it was when I went into the Principality Building Society and heard the staff talking about it, but still didn't really know what had happened. It was only on the way home when we heard the story on the car radio and then when we got home saw the horredous television coverage - absolutely unbelievable. How those people in the towers must have suffered

The only other day I can recall quite vividly was the Aberfan disaster - that was a Friday, think it was 21st October 1966, ad first heard of that in work when someone said 12 people had been killed. My boss said it would never be that many, and then we got home and discovred it was well over a hundred, mostly small children

Those 2 events I also relate to.

I well remember standing on the top of the the World Trade Centre on an earlier trip to New York. They used to issue a pamphlet which said "The closest that some people will get to God" When the disaster began to unfold I was working in my shop and my eldest son who had been with me in New York was at home watching television when the news broke. He rang me to let me know what had happened.

Aberfan I remember because I drove from Birmingham to there when I heard that volunteers were needed. I cannot explain why I felt compelled to go but I did. I spent all day Saturday helping to try to clear the slurry in Pantglas road near the school. Whilst there we managed to recover 3 bodies of those children who were unfortunate to have been caught in the landslide. A terrible disaster.

We watched a programme this week about the Hotel between the Twin Towers I think seeing it again unfolding didn't make it any easier watching. I hope all the families involved have found peace with themselves over the last 12 years .
