Back firing birthdays

Reading the joke from Mr Magoo reminded me of a birthday of mine.

No I didn't get naked or divorced. but I did get up that morning to have my birthday ignored by all my friends, strange because some of them had mentioned it the night before. I called in my local to pick their dog up for his walk and still nothing mentioned. So with 2+ days off I packed my bag, found a road and hitched from Devon to Leamington, and spent my birthday in Leam.
Got back the following day to find friends had arranged a huge party in my local with food and music for me ...which they enjoyed. but not me lol
They should have either had somebody tag me or at least said happy birthday in the morning.

Anybody got any stories ?

I will never forget my 21st birthday party.

I was very surprised I was even having a party.......... until I was told I could invite four friends. All the other guests were friends of my parents.

I left home not longer after that :-D

For my 50th, my daughters (bless them) bought me a new shed and paving slabs for a patio.

........unfortunately, I was left to put up the shed (3 man job according to instructions) and level & lay the flagstones alone!!!!

Seven years later, the flagstones are okay, but the shed leans at an interesting angle, and the door doesn't like opening. :-S
Fortunately I never put the windows in, and can access the lawn mower through the window!

:-D :-D

Another bonus - no-one's (yet) tried to steal anything.

Am now contemplating buying myself a plastic shed - may be able to put that up by myself :-D

My ex arranged a 40th for me, none of my personal friends could come as they had no where to stay as all his family were staying. We ran a pub so he arranged the bar "A pay bar" in a local hall. I also couldn't drink as I was waiting to have my gall bladder removed....and I didn't get a present from him as I got the "party"
My sister came for a short while as she had a 70 mile journey home and parents didn't come because of personal reasons...which I found out about after I left him.

I went to Mexico for my 50th that way I couldn't be disappointed again :-D

Upps at least mine was my fault :-S although I have never had a surprise party since (don“t know why :-D)
jax Sorting your own out sounds good.

I will admit I have done a few surprises for OH, 1 year we went to Barbados and his pressie was a card of the place saying this is your pressie. I paid the holiday and the meal later that night and the totally indulgent chocolate birthday cake. Another I took him for a pizza because he didn't want to bother and it surprised me but there was nearly 40 friends waiting *( only told mm 15*20). Next year is also arranged as I am paying for his baby sis to come out to see him..
BUT they are all that I knew woudn't back fire ...mind he sulked for days after the Pizza party. and did tell me never ever to do that again :-S
