Hi Marje, not sure if you have looked at any of the census but I have found on 1871
Ann morton b 1843
Elizabeth Morton b 1848
Joseph Morton b 1857
These are the 3 children of caroline morton.

Cant seem to trace ann or annie in 1881 but in 1891 annie was 15 and then living with her mum ann and grandmother caroline who was by then a widow.

The mystery there is where was annie and her mother/grandmother when she was 5?

Did you know of these children. Not sure how much family tree research you have done already?

When i tried to trace your dad, the only child that came up was a Eva heapy with mmn as morton but noone else, not sure why.

i would check for a baptism and the bishops copy
people where more likley to lie to the government that god
also the bastard laws
where the court or church courts ordered mantanance of a child

Did she give a fathers name and occupation on her marriage certificate?

Lots of people who were illegitimate did. Most such fathers details were "Invented" but you never know. The person marrying may have been told something or had an inkling as to who their father may have been.

My Grandmother was born 9th December 1875 She married my Grandfather Abel Heapy on 22nd Jan 1898 in Macclesfield Cheshire They had three children my Father being one of them Grandmother had no Brothers or Sisters as far as I know .She was bought up by her own Grandmother. hello marje, just wondering did your grandmother have any brothers or sisters?When was she born and did she marry?

there may be some cousins around and you never know someone somewhere may just have your answer.

i know it seems a long shot but if anyone can help then just give us some more details and see what we can do

My grandmother's father was unknown on her birth certificate but we found him eventually by looking up bastardy records in the record office. You could give that a try.

There is no one left from that era I'm afraid Grandmas Mother was Elizabeth Morton.. She was Brought up by her Grandmother Caroline Morton Macclesfield Thank you for your reply Marje..

Don't think you have much chance now the only thing I found out about my g/fathers brother who had the same on his b/cert. was that his middle name was Taylor so I suppose his father was someone Taylor and as they came from a small village I suppose I could try and find a male Taylor... Good luck
