We had a panic this morning .I noticed OH had one hearing aid missing . he insisted he had put them in and i could see the other ear had one in . I wondered when he had put em in .ie before he dressed or after. in case he knocked one out
I went around the house looking for the stray one ,not on the bedroom floor . on the bed etc in the bathroom down the stairs . even wondered whether it had got caught up in his shirt when we changed his medication patch Zilch !!

Started to worry cos they were expensive , he does have insurance but its sorting it all out .

I then noticed the one he had in had its flexible tube a bit down his ear rather than it being over the top and went to adjust it

Silly sausage he had BOTH aids in the one ear and had both tips inside the ear . how he managed that I dont know :-S

I liked the story of the guy who had suffered deafness most of his life - then got fitted with a state of the art hearing aid - when asked how his family had reacted to his being able to hear he said he hadn't informed them yet - he was biding his time and just listening :-D

Hubby had to have NHS hearing aids fitted to both ears. He couldn't wear them because they made his ears sore. He went back to the clinic and they made him ones in a different material . These too gave him sore ears but he was told more or less hard luck that's all we do !

He has had to buy them privately . Rather costly too but he needs them especially as he later developed his present condition .
Trying to hear on top of not remembering his words would leave him in an even more frustrating place

Lesley - she could not believe how, if the aid was upside down - her hearing was so much better! Mind you she did say it was even better the right way up!

Friend got a hearing aid a year ago courtesy of NHS. Past few weeks has not been able to use it as it was making her ear sore and she had to have antibiotics. She went to the Hearing Clinic yesterday and got sorted.

She saw the audiologist to out check the aid - she was inserting it the way she was shown - but it was upside down!

As she said she took it out and inserted it twice at the clinic to make sure she was doing it correctly when she first was fitted with it! This was in N. I.
