Noticed her perfume on the dressing table was Opium?......it came out in the seventies ;-)

I was reading a 'upmarket' magazine recently and a lot of the pictures showed houses with vintage furniture,1960's to 70's so popular now apparently :-).......( just like mine is,though original) :-D :-D

Kay we used to have one just like that, my mum used to go to auctions when we lived in the IOM so often came home with furniture which she'd polish up and sell on. I love the smell of wax polish :-)

I have an oak china cabinet and some small tables bought at the auction here, as you say they will around long after the chipboard has fallen apart and much nicer. I really want a table for the kitchen to go with the oak settle.

I've still got some of my mums clothes with the utility stamp:-D and some furniture that's not stamped but mum always referred it as utility furniture :-S

Rose, I have all dark polished wood furniture,,,,,including a mirro backed sideboard with barley twist legs, most was bought at auctions or through the trade years ago ....... it will see all the modern stuff out and looks much nicer, imo.......

Nothing nicer than the smell of Lavender or Wax polish through the house and the shine.........

Not odd at all Kay :-D ( but then I am not sure I am the right one to judge ? ;-))

I sold my mums 1940s dresses on Ebay a few years back, it seemed better that someone else enjoy them than sit in a suitcase. She was very slim!

I see a lot of 40s furniture at the auctions, very cheap as few want dark wood these days...oh for a van ( and a driver lol) .

Her Aspidistra could do with a bit of t.l.c. - I know they're supposed to thrive on neglect, but that one sure ain't. I would be ashamed to have it in my home. Wonder what else is neglected? :-0

I don't think it's bizarre at all but I would take the reporting with a pinch of salt.

Gee Report 29 Aug 2013 18:55

She doesn't have a 1940s car!

That said, it's her choice.

I wouldn't want to live in the 70s when I grew up, much prefer the 'noughties'

Daily Mail........arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

This has been reported on many times in the past but what a great free advert for her business!

I wouldn't mind a look round her house, I don't think she's bizarre either, she probably has a nice little business going selling 40's stuff she doesn't want.

No I don't think it's remotely "bizarre" ( that being the DMs word for this week!..they used it yesterday about something that was also not bizarre).

Most of us have some particular era or style we like, and thank God we don't all have to look the same, or have identical homes with no character.

Not as bizarre as the man who celebrates Christmas every day, nor the houses full of 100's of teddies/Barbies/daleks. I'll bet she doesn't eat 1940's style food :-(
