I agree with what you have said and also believe
it will take decades to prove one way or the other.
I do not believe it will eliminate bovine TB.

Culling badgers or even exterminating them altogether will not eliminate bovine TB. Greatly improved hygiene practices in the movement of live cattle and a significant reduction in cattle transportation would help a great deal.

As it is we have the usual bone headed logic of much ( not all ) of the farming community "if it moves kill it" v. a great deal of science which suggests the cull is at best a waste of time and money. It could well make the problem worse.

It will take years to access whether the culls have made any difference or not. As even in the best case a reduction on cattle TB of only 15% is expected the results are likely to be inconclusive. Most likely Patterson & Co. will want to extend culling until the badger is extinct in the UK and then start on its small relatives, the stoats and weasels.
